White Fused Alumina Double-Disc Grinding Wheel
The white fused alumina double-disc grinding wheel is a special abrasive tool for double-sided grinding machines, made with white fused alumina (WA, alumina oxide) as the abrasive material and bonded with ceramic or resin binders. It is mainly used for high-precision and high-efficiency simultaneous grinding of two parallel end faces of workpieces.
I. Core Features
- Material Advantages: White fused alumina features high hardness (second only to diamond and CBN), sharp cutting performance and excellent self-sharpening properties. It generates low heat during grinding and rarely causes workpiece burn.
- High Precision:
- Flatness: 0.001~0.004mm
- Parallelism: ≤ 0.002~0.02mm
- Surface Roughness: Ra 0.1~1.2μm
- Wide Application: Suitable for carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, tool steel, cemented carbide, ceramics, glass and other materials.
- Service Life & Efficiency: Wear-resistant with excellent shape retention and long dressing intervals, ideal for mass precision processing.

II. Main Specifications (Reference)

III. Typical Applications
- Auto Parts: Bearing races, piston rings, gears, hydraulic pump stators/rotors, valve plates
- Electronics & Semiconductors: Ceramic substrates, sapphire glass, monocrystalline silicon wafers
- Precision Machinery: Molds, sealing parts, cemented carbide cutting tools, hydraulic and pneumatic components
- Hardware & Tools: Cutters, measuring tools, miniature bearings, precision gaskets
IV. Comparison with Cast Iron Discs & Diamond Discs
White Fused Alumina Grinding Wheel
- Advantages: Sharp cutting, cost-effective, scratch-resistant, good self-sharpening
- Disadvantages: Lower wear resistance than diamond tools; suitable for medium and low hardness materials with high precision and cost-effective demands
Traditional Cast Iron Grinding Disc
- Advantages: Low cost
- Disadvantages: Low efficiency, easy clogging, poor surface finish, heavy contamination
Diamond / CBN Grinding Disc
- Advantages: Ultra-wear resistance, extremely long service life, high processing efficiency
- Disadvantages: High price; suitable for super-hard materials such as cemented carbide and ceramics
V. Operation & Maintenance Guidelines
- Equipment Compatibility: Applicable to double-sided grinding machines (e.g., Risesun, Heruite, Korean AM, German Peter Wolters, etc.)
- Dressing Requirements: Dress the new wheel for 1 minute before formal use; conduct 15-second routine dressing after processing 4.5 to 15 batches of workpieces. White fused alumina dressing rings are commonly adopted.
- Cooling Requirement: Wet grinding with special grinding fluid is mandatory to prevent workpiece burn and wheel clogging.
- Storage: Store in a moisture-proof and collision-free environment to avoid deformation.
VI. Selection Guidelines
- Workpiece Material: Choose white fused alumina for steel, stainless steel and ceramics; choose diamond/CBN for cemented carbide and gemstones.
- Precision Requirement: For surface roughness Ra < 0.4μm, select 1000#~3000# white fused alumina fine grinding wheels.
- Production Volume: Diamond discs for large-batch and long-term continuous production; white fused alumina discs for small and medium-batch cost-effective processing
