Functions of White Fused Alumina Powder in Coatings

Improve Wear and Scratch Resistance

With a Mohs hardness of 9.0, white fused alumina powder forms a rigid hard skeleton inside the coating, greatly enhancing the coating’s resistance to friction, scouring and scratching, and extending the service life of the paint film.

Increase Paint Film Hardness

White fused alumina powder effectively increases the pencil hardness of the paint film, enhances its anti-collision and anti-impact performance, and suits industrial hard surfaces, floor coatings and hardware topcoats.

Enhance Weather Resistance & Anti-Aging Performance

White fused alumina powder has stable chemical properties and excellent resistance to UV rays, acid, alkali and salt spray. It prevents the coated surface from chalking, losing gloss or discoloring when used outdoors.

Boost Adhesion and Compactness

White fused alumina powder has an irregular shape; its multi-angular particles firmly interlock with resin to prevent the paint film from peeling and flaking. It fills internal gaps, makes the coating denser and improves the waterproof and seepage-proof effect.

High Temperature Resistance & Heat Insulation

White fused alumina powder has a high melting point and excellent thermal stability. We can use it to prepare high-temperature resistant and fire-retardant coatings, which improves the coatings’ heat resistance and auxiliary flame retardant effect.

Adjust Surface Texture and Anti-slip Performance

We can use coarse-grade white fused alumina powder to make anti-slip floor and stair coatings, as it increases the friction coefficient; fine-grade powder is suitable for formulating matte and frosted surface finishes.

Low Oil Absorption & Easy Dispersion

White fused alumina powder has a low oil absorption value, so it does not consume excessive resin and ensures good system fluidity. It can disperse evenly in water-based, oil-based and powder coating systems.

Stable Whitening & Color Matching

White fused alumina powder has a whiteness of 85; this pure white powder does not cause color deviation or grey tint, and perfectly suits high-grade white, light-colored and multicolor topcoats.

Chemical Corrosion Resistance

White fused alumina powder resists corrosion and various chemical media. We apply it to heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings for ships, mechanical equipment and pipelines to upgrade the anti-corrosion grade.
